Be prepared: get an iTunes Store account
It’s free to set up, and once done you’ll be ready to download apps, music and video to your iPhone from the iTunes Store
If you want to install any apps on your iPhone, or download music and video from the iTunes store, then you’ll need to set up an iTunes Store account. You can do this from within the iTunes program that you installed on your PC, so why not make it part of your iPhone checklist?
Set up your account
The process is incredibly straightforward: open iTunes on your computer and select Create Account from the Store menu. A wizard will then take you through the process: first you’ll create a username and password, with which you log on to your account on your iPhone. Second, you’ll need set up a form of payment, whether that’s a credit or debit card, direct debit with your bank or even your BT phone bill. This will be charged when you purchase items such as apps or music from the iTunes Store.
Enjoy the benefits
Once set up, you can start downloading music and video on to your computer, ready for transferring across to your iPhone when it arrives. And when you switch on your iPhone for the first time, you’ll also be able to quickly browse and install both free and paid-for apps from the vast collection on offer, using your iTunes Store username and password.
